Alterações climáticas

Tema 11 – Mesa redonda ALTERAÇÕES CLIMÁTICAS
Coordenador: Amílcar Soares, IST-UTL

Climate change is one of the main threats to sustainable growth and development in Southern Africa, namely in Mozambique. In African countries the shifting of the rainfall pattern is the most important consequence of climate change due to is significant negative impact on agriculture, particularly on food and water supplies.
Furthermore, the occurrence of more frequent extreme weather events- like severe storms, droughts or floods, have also an important effect on local economies. Therefore in this seminar session, our goal is to present the actual state of the art of climate science and what can be done to mitigate climate change impacts.
